Social Issue
The issue I chose to photograph was based on gender. This image shows an ID with their name crossed out. One may identify themselves as a certain gender, yet others may still see them as the opposite.

Famous Photographer
Kasia Bielska was the photographer of my choice. Her works show simple colors which make her photos look like minimalist art. I tried to imitate her style by using white as a main color, showing the innocence and youth of the model.

Typology
Shoes are something I enjoy looking at. I have quite a large collection of shoes from runners to boots. I decided to photograph shoes because it is something that is common, yet we ignore the fact that everyone has a growing collection.

Culture
This photo was taken at LunarFest in downtown. It is a Chinese festival and there were many performances. The photo I chose was taken from behind the performers on stage, which shows a different perspective from what we usually see.

Soundtrack
This series was based on the song "I Will Return" by Skylar Grey. Because the song repeats the lines "I will return", we made the series a story. It starts with the boy leaving the girl , and finally, returning back to her.

Photos taken outside of school
Seaquam sign: What I like most of this photo is the light coming from the back. The sign is darker in the front, almost framing the photo, and the focus is in the back. The photo is composed of cold colors because of the cold weather.
Stop sign: This was taken during the summer. At the time, I was experimenting with the rule of thirds. The colors of the sign and the trees in the back contrast each other, as they are opposites.
Purple lights: I was playing around with lights during the Snowball dance. What I learnt was that if the shutter speed is set slower, the more lights I am able to capture. I created many images of just lines and patterns of lights from the dance. I hope to use lights as the main subject in my own photography, similarly to this image.
Reflection: At first, I was hesitant to show this photo. It is just a photo of me taking a photo, but it has inspired me to play with reflections. I would like to incorporate reflections in my photos next term, and because it is rainy now, I have the chance to take more reflection photos.

Opposites
From the opposites series, my favorite is the blue and orange pen caps. The color is subtle, yet it is noticeable that the colors are contrasting. I also focused on the foreground and blurred the background, creating depth in the photo.
Outdoor portraits
I am most proud of the photo of Niko and the Christmas lights. The lighting in the cafeteria is dark and quite yellow usually. The lights in the photo add a lot more light and creates a image with warm tones. It also looks natural because it was taken while my model was relaxed. I will want to try more photography involving lights vs people.
Escape
In this first project,I composed an image of a student sleeping and escaping from the building. I lowered the opacity to create a 'ghost-like' figure in the background.

These photos were taken on the first few days of class. I like the warm colors in most of these photos, and the crunchy leaves during autumn. My favorite in all is the brown leaves leading to a point afar. The image creates one point perspective, with the leaves in front in focus and the ones behind a bit less.
